DJ Speaker Compliance Standards: Compliance Framework and Implementation Guidelines

I. Applicable Regulations and Mandatory Certification

 

DJ speakers intended for public performances and commercial use fall under the category of audio-visual equipment subject to my country's Compulsory Product Certification (CCC). For single/multi-speaker active speakers with a total output power below 500W (RMS), testing and certification must be conducted according to CCC implementation rules. The core standards include: Safety Standard GB 4943.1, Electromagnetic Compatibility Emission Standard GB/T 9254.1, and Harmonic Current Limit Standard GB 17625.1. Certification implementation follows the CNCA-01C-017 (2010) Compulsory Certification Implementation Rules for Electrical and Electronic Products and the corresponding factory inspection requirements. In practice, the scope of certification, unit division, and extended clauses shall be subject to the latest version of the Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People's Republic of China (CNCA) list and implementation rules.

 

II. Electromagnetic Compatibility and Safety Standards

 

  • Electromagnetic Emissions (EMI): Active speakers are typically tested for conducted and radiated emissions according to GB/T 9254.1 / CISPR 13 to control interference to broadcasting and communication equipment; earlier versions such as GB 13837 have also long been used as the basis for radio interference characteristics of audio and video equipment.
  • Harmonics: For equipment with a rated input current ≤16A, the limits are assessed according to GB 17625.1 / IEC 61000-3-2 to avoid harmonic pollution from the power grid.
  • Electrical Safety: Currently, the safety requirements of GB 4943.1 (corresponding to IEC 62368-1) are adopted; some historical or specific product information still references GB 8898 (IEC 60065), and the implementation of the project shall be subject to the latest version of the standard and the requirements of the certification body.
  • Speaker Combination System:** For "speaker combination systems/home theater loudspeaker systems," supplementary verification of performance and testing items can be performed with reference to industry standard SJ/T 11218.

The above standards collectively constitute the EMC and safety baseline for DJ speakers entering the market and for field applications. Test items typically cover terminal disturbance voltage, disturbance power, harmonic current, insulation and creepage distance, mechanical strength, stability, and fire resistance.

 

III. Electroacoustic Performance and Testing Methods Standards

 

  • Basic and General: Main performance tests for loudspeakers are performed according to GB/T 9396 and GB/T 9397; loudspeaker testing methods for acoustic system equipment are found in GB/T 12060.5, and listening test methods are found in GB/T 12060.13.
  • Horn Loudspeakers: Acoustic, mechanical, and durability verification for specialized products can be performed with reference to GB/T 14474 (General Requirements) and GB/T 14475 (Measurement Methods).
  • Professional and Industry Standards: The cultural industry standard WH/T 39-2009 provides practical specifications and performance requirements for professional audio and sound reinforcement loudspeaker components, serving as a reference for project acceptance and procurement technical clauses.
  • International Standards: Engineering practices and export projects often refer to international standards such as IEC 60268-5 (loudspeakers) to ensure parameter specifications are consistent with the global supply chain.

These standards support the testing and comparison of key indicators of DJ speakers, such as frequency response, sensitivity, distortion, power handling, and directivity, and are important bases for product consistency control and quality assessment.

 

IV. Key Points for Third-Party Testing and Certification

 

  • Institutional Qualifications: Prioritize third-party laboratories accredited by CMA (China Metrology Accreditation) and CNAS (China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment) to ensure the legal validity and data credibility of reports.
  • Documents Required: Prepare product manuals, specifications, a list of key components, nameplate/label drafts, circuit diagrams/block diagrams, and usage and installation instructions to facilitate type testing and consistency verification.
  • Samples and Items: Confirm mandatory testing items such as safety, EMC, and harmonics, as well as extended items (such as environmental and durability) according to the certification body and standard list. Supplement with enterprise standards or specific scenario verifications if necessary.
  • Timeframe and Costs: The testing cycle for common speaker projects is approximately 7 days (starting from sample receipt by the laboratory). Costs fluctuate depending on the number and complexity of projects, and are subject to the agency's quotation.
  • Report Application: CCC type test reports are used for certification; CNAS/CMA quality inspection reports are commonly used for platform entry, procurement acceptance, quality improvement, etc. Their applicable scopes differ, and they should be processed and archived separately.

 

V. Example of Engineering Procurement and Acceptance Terms

 

  • Compliance Clauses: Clearly state that the product belongs to the active speaker category in the CCC catalog, indicate GB 4943.1, GB/T 9254.1, and GB 17625.1 as mandatory compliance standards, and declare the certification status and certificate number.
  • Performance Indicators: The procurement technical specifications should specify measurable parameters such as rated power (RMS), maximum sound pressure level (SPL), frequency response (-10 dB), coverage angle (H×V), and distortion (THD), and indicate the testing standards and conditions (e.g., GB/T 12060.5).
  • EMC and Safety: Third-party EMC and safety testing reports (including original data for key items) are required, and a mechanism for rectification and retesting of non-compliance should be stipulated.
  • Consistency Control: Requirements should be set for the consistency of nameplates, interfaces, labels, packaging, and instruction manuals to ensure on-site installation, operation and maintenance, and user safety.
  • Accompanying Documents: Clearly define the certificate of conformity, warranty card, installation parts list, and routine maintenance recommendations to facilitate long-term stable operation and after-sales support.

The above clauses, used in conjunction with standard definitions, can achieve "verifiable compliance, quantifiable performance, and traceable quality" during project implementation and acceptance.
